Khartoum, August 12(SUNA) - The Regional Training Session on the reports Preparation on Arab Food Security Situations and Indicators of Sustainable Development in the Arab World conclude its sessions Sunday. The training session was organized by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) (ESCWA), with the participation of 21 Arab cadres working in food security from Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt. The aim of the training session was to increase the capacity of the staff in the preparation of food security reports and follow up the implementation of the goals of sustainable development 2030 in the Arab world, review and update the components of the data forms of the report of the Arab food security situation and its comprehensiveness, Data collection, adoption of international statistical methods and standards for knowledge management in relation to food security indicators and sustainable development objectives. The training session discussed the problems and obstacles facing the organization in obtaining country data and information on the food security situation and the proposed solutions to overcome it. The Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development Professor Ibrahim Al-Dekheiri opened last Thursday the training session. The training session came as the continuation of the AOAD efforts in cooperation with the United Nations organizations working in the field of agricultural development and food security and its desire, with its partners, to support and develop the capacities of Arab cadres in monitoring and analyzing the food security situation in the Arab region.
